Samsung is working on its own news app to give their users the best quality content through their news app and of course it includes monetization opportunities for media organizations.

Can you think of a possible reason for this step? I would directly link this decision with the Apple news app. Samsung’s is in a mood to compete with the Apple news app!

The news app is named as ‘UPDAY’. Axelspringer’s blog explained the objective of UPDAY –

UPDAY will offer Samsung customers access to a range of news content that combines ‘Need to Know’ information selected by a local market editorial team and ‘Want to Know’ information, an algorithm-based service tailored to customers’ individual interests.

The beta version will be rolled out to the Play Store (limited to Samsung devices) restricted to countries- Germany and Poland (for now, may be available across Europe in the later week). The early beta version will be also available through Samsung Galaxy apps. It would turn fully functional in early 2016.
