PUBG’s Sanhok Map Is Exciting: Quick Review

Sanhok map is now live on PUBG’s experimental server. And, it’s open to anyone who owns PUBG on Steam. If you don’t mind pesky bugs and want to try the Sanhok map, you should download it as soon as possible!

The test ends on May 14, 4am PDT / May 14, 1pm CEST / May 14, 8pm KST.

I’ve already had a few hours into the new map and so far it’s been a good experience – but not the best – of course.

In case you did not know, Sanhok – is the name of the new map that was codenamed “Savage” in our previous closed experimental experience.

Trust me, a lot has changed since the last test run!

First Priority: Performance

The frame rates weren’t so good (considering, it still is a “test” run) but it was playable (around 50-60 FPS on my GTX 1050 – 2GB VRAM).

What’s New?

  • Apples: Wait, What?

The map was missing a lot of things in the last test run, and a bunch of things has been added/improved since then.

I’m not sure if you would find it funny or annoying, but you will find yourself equipped with “Apples” as throwables before getting into the airplane. Well, it sounds like you trigger a grenade (should be a sound bug), but it’s just an Apple.

  • Area Name Changes

Maybe for some legal issues, several locations were renamed. They are:

  • Red Zone Changes

From now on, the red zones would only appear outside the safe zone (white circle). Well, some portion of the red zone might fall inside the safe zone – but you will not observe a full red zone inside the white circle.

  • 4 New Places

  • Other Improvements

The weapon spawn rate has been adjusted specifically for this map while also improving the reticle of holographic sight.

You should check the detailed official changelog to know what else has changed.

My Final Thoughts

Snahok is indeed a beautiful map. The resort, the boot camp, the docks – everything looks way better than the last test run.

I’m not sure if it’s intentional but the inside of the houses and buildings seems to be “too spacious” – which calls for a better combat experience – but it looks kind of incomplete.

Unlike other maps, I’ve had a pleasant experience driving in Sanhok. Maybe, I was lucky? Who knows?

Did you try the Sanhok map? Notice something new that I haven’t yet encountered?

Let me know about it in the comments below.
