Last updated on November 2nd, 2014

We are going to give you the complete review of Micromax Unite 2 to help you in buying a good budget smartphone .
Well, Micromax Unite 2 provides excellent specs , but the question is that – ” Can it provide optimum performance according to the specs ? ? ”

Let’s see :

Key Features :

OS : Android 4.4.2(KitKat)
RAM : 1 GB (960 MB is available in actual)

Processors : 1.3 GHz Quad-Core (MediaTek build)
Camera : Primary->5 MP & Front->2 MP
Battery : 2000 mAh

The UI Design :

The icons are squared and looks elegant.

As the Unite 2 is not an Android One conceptualized smartphone so it has it’s own customized UI , which is very user-friendly and elegant.

Camera :

Although Micromax camera quality was not so impressive in the last year on the low priced smartphones, but now it has improved a lot.

The primary camera has a 5 MP specification which delivers exactly the same picture quality as expected by you.

Here are some examples from Unite 2 primary camera :

Now it’s turn for the front camera. You must have noticed the front camera in  phones like S Duos 2 or similar , which doesn’t take clear pictures as the primary does. But after taking shots from the Unite 2 front camera i was impressed.

Front Camera Pic
Front Camera Pic(Having Resolution of 1600*1200)

This above front camera pic was taken by setting a 10 seconds timer. So you can enjoy a very good quality video calling in this smartphone.

And at last about the Video Recording ! The 1080p quality is actually not found if we zoom while recording a video , but without zooming you can get 1080p quality. And the main thing is that the video recording is supported by EIS lens technology that means Electrical Image Stabilization , which helps in making the video less shaky.

In-Built Apps :

There are several In-Built Apps which will make your work easy. You get the Hike Messenger pre-installed.Then we get all the common apps which we find pre-installed in other phones too. We have seen some smartphones don’t have File-Manager pre0installed but Unite 2 contains the File Manager which is simple and user-friendly.

Gaming Performance :

As we had mentioned earlier that Lumia 530 can perform same as Unite 2 with the 512 MB RAM . But that’s not true.
We compared the gaming performance of Unite 2 with Lumia 530 and Unite 2 performed very well. Lumia 530 could not run some heavy games.

We tested Dead Trigger 1 , Dead Trigger 2 , World Robot Boxing and Asphalt 8 which runs smoothly in it. Even if you  minimize two high-end games still after that there is enough free RAM to carry out  your other work like responding to messages and chats simultaneously .

Is there any serious Bug ? ?

We have checked every feature present in the smartphone and there are no bugs which can ruin your money.

Is the App to SD card feature present ??

Yes, it permits apps to move to external card. But we noticed that some apps doesn’t permit itself to get transferred !! There’s nothing to worry about guys ! Only the apps like CM Security, Flashlight etc which needs to access your phone to work will not get transferred to external SD card.

Is the Touchscreen responsive enough ? ?

Yeah,It is completely responsive and there is not doubt about it’s responsiveness. And a note for buyers – When you pull down the notification bar sometime Google Now opens , it is because the shortcut to Google Now is by tapping the home screen. So a user should accurately pull down the notification bar .

You get a LED notification light too ?

Yes, you get a LED notification light . So that even if your smartphone is on silent mode you can know if any message has arrived or not or you can also get notified if any calls have been missed in your absence.

Battery Backup :

This smartphone has awesome battery backup . This device was tested with Aircel 3G internet (2 mbps) keeping enabled for consecutively two days ( with these apps constantly running  –  Facebook Messenger , WordPress , Adsense App , Hike , Gmail , Whatsapp & Facebook App ) provided that the smartphone was switched off from 12:00 am midnight to 4:00 am morning. So this smartphone provides a very good battery back up in this range of smartphones

Now let’s look at it’s final scores :

  1. I am finding one issue with Kitkat in this mobile.. After upgrade, for some reason, the battery is draining a lot faster compare to 4.2 version !!

Also compare to Moto E, touch is no where close as well as the display !!

Rest all, I would agree, but touch and display is a lot better in Moto E, or in any lumia device !!

  2. The device comes with an 4.4.2 kitkat and we have discussed above that it lasts 2 days with phone switched off from 12.00am to 4.00 am with normal apps mentioned above. If you are facing issue with the battery and touch then contact the service centre. According to our test the touch response is absolutely fine. I too have a Micromax unite 2 and i am having zero trouble.
