Micromax, being the only Indian company that’s among the top 10 smartphone brands in the world seems to be going to the next level of innovation. The company tweeted a video where a man was held as a hostage and promised the audience to unveil its jailbreak story today. And, here it is, the next flagship phone of Micromax – “Canvas Sliver 5“.
It’s definitely not a normal launch. Micromax wants the world’s attention. And this time it has got what it wants. Micromax unveiled the Canvas Sliver 5 few hours ago at New Delhi.
The phone acquires the world’s thinnest phone title by being 5.1mm thickness “end-to-end“. It generally means that the thickness remains uniform throughout ( without a thicker bump ). In the live webcast, the CEO even tried to show the benefits of the thinnest phone by passing it through a sleek gap.
It sports a 4.8 Inch AMOLED screen, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. And, that’s good, replacing the IPS display panel, for efficient power consumption. That’s not it, the display has a blue light filter and that makes it even more worthy of the price. They took the innovation to the next level by using aircraft grade aluminium for the frame. It makes it weigh 97 grams only. Well, the company claims it as the lightest phone ever and specifically mentioning that it’s the first smartphone below 100 grams to be 4G LTE enabled.
The PCB used is obviously ultra thin, to make the device “slimmest”. The smartphone has a matte finish rear panel, which makes it even more sleek to look. The price tag put on it is 17,999 INR or 283$.
The Canvas Sliver 5 comes loaded with 2 Gigs of RAM (DDR3) and 16 GB ROM. It is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 401 processor (1.2 GHz Quad-Core) and it’s GPU being Adreno 306. 4G LTE network connectivity supported. It’s the first 4G enabled flagship device from Micromax. It comes with an 8 MP rear camera with Sony IMX219 sensor. The front camera being 5 MP , the rear one supports 1080p video recording at 30 FPS.
It also comes loaded with the NXP Smart power amplifier (a premium sound technology). And, also to make you feel that the sound feels alive, it also features Dirac HD sound technology. And to support all these, it comes with a 2000 mAh battery, but the company claims that the device is specially designed to consume less power, so it would last longer than it is expected.
Micromax’s CEO also said about its plan to improve the customer service with new policies. And, the customers will soon experience a doorstep pickup service and guaranteed return within 7 days. Micromax’s customers are happy enough to know about it. It’s still an announcement. Let’s see what happens next.
