These days buying a new smartphone is like scratching your head. There are a lot many options for the same price range offering vivid features. It’s like a fish market where you step in to buy fish but don’t know what kind of fish you’ll get (apologies to the vegetarian readers). So, to make things easier for you, I’ve chosen the best mid-range smartphones under the price tag of $300 (20,000 INR).
5Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Dual
Sony is known for premium class smartphones. However, that royalty can be in your pocket as Sony Xperia M4 Dual is a mid-ranged smartphone featuring 5-inch (720p) display. Powered up with 1GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 615, the device is equipped with Adreno 405 supported by 2GB RAM. The phone is IP68 certified, which means it is water resistant up to 1.5 meters and 30 mins. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has 13MP primary camera with 4128X3096pixels and 5MP secondary camera, thus supporting 1080p video recording. You get 8/16 GB internal storage in Xperia M4 Dual. It has 2400mAh battery. The beautiful and slim design of this smartphone will make you fall for it. However, it is a bit overpriced at 275$ (INR 17,999).
4Moto G 3rd Gen.& Xiaomi Mi4i
With the price tag of $200 both the smartphones are best in class. However, Moto G 3rd gen is water resistant along with an expandable memory option, whereas the Xiaomi Mi 4i offers a 1080p display with 441ppi.

3,120 mAh Li-Po battery |
Mi4i has been beautifully designed and gives a premium feel in hand while Moto G 3rd gen is robust and gives a solid feel if you hold it. Both smartphones have 2GB of RAM, but Moto G 3rd gen holds more multi-tasking capacity. But MIUI which runs on Mi4i, sucks half of the RAM, while the Moto G 3rd gen comes with clean Stock Rom to give you the most of it. Mi4i has is equipped with Snapdragon 615 which efficiently enhances the response time of the apps. Moto G 3rd Gen having snapdragon 410, is beautifully optimized and will suffice your normal usage. You won’t feel much difference in the performance of both the devices. Where Moto G 3rd gen has been fully redesigned with water resistant capacity, the Mi4i has been derived from the elder bro Mi4 with a slashed price. Specification wise, both smartphones give a neck-on-neck competition to be on the 5th Rank.
3Lenovo ZUK Z1
It’s one of the best smartphones manufactured by Lenovo which the company should be proud about. It comes nearly with the price tag of 300$ offering 5.5 inches 1080p display with 401ppi. However, there is NO Gorilla Glass protection. The device is powered up by 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 supported by 3 Gigs of LPDDR3 RAM. It packs 64 Gigs of storage capacity which is massive in this price range. It runs Cyanogen OS 12.1 (based on Lollipop 5.1.1). Lenovo ZUK Z1 comes with serious security feature like the fingerprint scanner. It uses type-C USB for data transfer and charging. This device claims 4G usage of 38 Hours which is supported by a 4100mAh battery. The primary cam is 13MP with image stabilization. The front camera is an 8MP shooter.

2OnePlus X
OnePlus launched the 3rd smartphone which has got killer specification in the price range. The device comes in 2 variations:- Onyx @259$ (INR 16,999) and Ceramic @350$ (INR 22,999). Pre-orders are going on. Both the variants will be made available via the much-criticized invitation system of the company via Amazon. The OnePlus X, running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Oxygen OS, features 5-inch full-HD display (1080p Resolution). Powered up by 2.3 GHz snapdragon 801 quad-core processor supported by 3Gigs of RAM and 16Gigs of internal storage(supports up to 128GB), this phone is a killer. It comes with 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. However, if you are frustrated with the company’s invite-&-buy system and want to buy the device directly follow this to pre-order directly.
1Moto X Play
If you love the Stock Android which the Nexus series normally offers, then this device meets your requirement. Motorola has done a good comeback in the Smartphone business. Moto X play is considered as a mini Nexus device. So, it’s the best we have in the mid-range budget series.
It has a 5.5-inch full-HD display with 403ppi (pixel density) protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powered up with Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor (1.0GHz quad-core & 1.7GHz quad-core) with Adreno 405, it has 2 Gigs of RAM with 16/32GB of internal storage. It sports a 21MP rear camera with Dual-Tone dual-flash with 1080p video recording support. Moto X Play runs pure Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which means no bloatware to slow down your experience (except moto assistant, that’s useful). This smartphone is IP52 certified: Internal parts with water-repellent nano-coating. Moto X Play offers 3630 mAh of battery juice with TurboPower Quick charging support. Finally, we realize that this smartphone comes with the best possible combination of specifications. And, it comes with a price tag of 285$ (INR 18,500). That’s definitely an easy deal for users who thought of getting a mid-range budget smartphone without compromising the build quality, performance, and brand identity as well.
