Anyone who has their hands on a DSLR knows what an f-stop is, and an f-stop of 1.7 is a jackpot. For those who don’t know, f-stop or aperture is the opening which controls the light falling on the camera sensor. Smaller the f-stop, larger the aperture. A smaller f-stop gives crisp and brighter photos even in low light conditions.

OnePlus 5 is the only phone in this price range which offers such large aperture. Moreover, OnePlus 5 offers the lowest f-stop as of today. Get your hands on OnePlus 5 to capture photos with amazing Bokeh effect with dual lens. It is indeed one of the best dual camera smartphones.

Apple uses a 23mm lens paired with a 56mm lens. A wide angle lens paired with a telephoto lens grabs every bit of details in the frame. Both the camera capture photos simultaneously which are stitched together giving the user the freedom to play with the photos.

The combination of a wide angle and a telephoto lens produces one of a kind Bokeh effect, and the results are breathtaking. The wide angle lens offers 2X zoom capability while the telephoto lens offers 10X zooming ability. They are not as good and lossless as optical zoom, but the best in class digital zoom. If iOS is your preference, this should be one of the best dual camera smartphones for you.

Huawei’s flagship, the Huawei P10 Plus stands up for its name. You may not find it on Amazon or other major e-commerce sites for now. But, it is expected to be available later this fall. Huawei tied up with German lens manufacturers Leica to bring the best of the lenses to their flagships. The next of the kin the Huawei P10 has a cheap Leica lens which does not offer such small f-stop. It is one of the best dual camera smartphones.

Huawei used different sensors but both the lens having the same focal length, one being the RGB sensor and the other being a monochrome sensor. Monochrome sensor ensures faster image processing and captures more details in a smaller size.

Both the images are then stitched together, and after color reproduction, you get the best photos in a smaller time frame. Huawei also claims that you can get a lossless zoom up to 2X. Being said that, it’s not confusing why Huawei tagged this phone as a Pocket Studio.

It uses the same camera concept as the Huawei P10 Plus, one RGB sensor paired with a Monochrome sensor. It is indeed one of the best dual camera smartphones from Huawei.

The secondary camera is also top notch and captures life-like pictures. It offers features close to the Huawei P10 Plus, and the specs are also to the mark. You should wait for the Huawei P10 Plus’ price to be revealed and then decide for yourself.

LG’s phones are known to be tough. The pricier variant of the flagship LG G6 is the LG G6+ which offers more storage onboard and improved audio. So, it comes down to your personal preferences of what you choose (LG G6 or the LG G6+). It might not be the best selling smartphone out there, but it surely is one of the best dual camera smartphones you would find.

It comes packed with a wide-angle lens which is a compelling choice to some over the telephoto lens making the LG G6/G6+ a unique dual-lens camera offering.

LG used different sensors for the LG V20 than the ones used in the G6+. It still utilizes a wide-angle camera lens to let you capture more in one shot.

The super wide angle lens is a great tool if you are into landscape photography as it captures more details in a single frame. On top of that, the LG V20 is MIL-STD-810G certified, which means it’s strong, military strong! Best pick for those traveling photographers out there. If you are looking for a solid smartphone, this should be the best dual camera smartphone for you.

For those who want a dual camera and top notch image quality, this is the right pick. The Honor 9 has a bigger camera sensor making it the best in class camera phone in its price range. Powered by an octa-core processor and packed with 6GB RAM, this is a beast. Honor’s flagship, the Honor 9 is the all rounder package and maintains a balance in all aspects.

If it isn’t available in your country yet (was expected to be available later this year), you can go for Huawei Honor 8 Pro that costs 29,999 INR.

OS: iOS 11

Chipset: A11 Bionic Chip

Primary Camera: 12 MP, f/1.8 + 12 MP, f/2.8

Front Camera: 7 MP, f/2.2

iPhone 8 Plus is one perfect choice if you want to own one of the greatest dual camera smartphones. However, we would not recommend the iPhone 8 Plus for the users who already have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 8 Plus’ camera is a bit better than the iPhone 7 Plus with some enhanced features. But, nothing sort of a spectacular upgrade on the lenses compared to the iPhone 7 Plus.

Wrapping Up

For now, most of the smartphones offering dual camera costs more than $500. May be we could expect more budget offerings like the Moto G5S Plus soon enough. Believe it or not, we had to go through a lot of trouble to give these amazing pieces of technology a position. For us, all are great and whichever you choose should work perfectly fine.

  1. ISP does not really matter unless you really know about Optics (in-depth) and if you know – you probably already know which is better. But, if ISP is a new thing for you, better stick to the practical image samples. And, choose the one that you prefer to be good enough.
