Idea Cellular said on Tuesday that it has sold eight lakh branded smartphones over the past 30 months and added that over three-fourths of them are still with it.
“We have sold 8 lakhs smartphone handsets through our network in the last two-and-a-half years, and around 75-80 per cent of them are continuing with Idea itself,”said the chief marketing officer Sashi Shankar of Idea Cellular.
Idea had launched two 3g smartphones which was released in semi-urban and rural areas, all over India.
Sashi Shankar also said that Andhra, Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra were the most active trading centre for the company, accounting for around 75 per cent of sales.
The phones were sourced by Alcatel and Compel.
It seems like in the coming year, Idea would be in a position where it can challenge Samsung in it’s sale.
