18 best Ezio moments from the Assassin’s Creed franchise

Last updated on January 18th, 2015

Ezio Auditore da Firenze is considered to be one of the most iconic heroes in the history of gaming. And rightfully so. With his charming and sophisticated personality, Ezio has won millions of hearts around the world. So, without further ado, here are the best 18 Ezio moments from the Assassin’s Creed franchise, according to us.

*SPOILERS AHEAD* (Major Spoilers regarding story and endings)

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Note: For the purpose of convenience, the list has been arranged chronologically. The moments have been taken from all the three games that Ezio has starred in; Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

1. It is a good life we lead, brother

A good intro is very essential for a game to feel interesting; you can’t expect to have a good date if you screw up on the wine selection. Assassin’s Creed II probably has the best intro of the franchise. After finishing up with a fight, Ezio and his brother Federico, have a small race and then climb up a tower. With hands on each other’s shoulders, they look out to the moon, cherishing the life they lead as the title comes up. As I said, best intro ever!!

2. You should find an outlet

Having ‘The Talk’ with your mom or dad is never easy. It is uncomfortable, it is embarrassing and it makes you want to become invisible. And it is the same for everyone, even for the daring and dashing Ezio Auditore. In this particular scene Ezio’s mom tells Ezio that he should find an outlet for self expression to which Ezio replies that he has many. Ezio’s mother Maria, however, shuts him up by saying that she meant outlets other than vaginas. Ummm………… well, that must have been awkward. But you know what they say, mothers know all.

3. Ezio’s loss

This is one of the most emotional and tragic scenes in the franchise. It was heart wrenching to see Ezio’s father and brothers get executed for something they didn’t do while Ezio unsuccessfully tried to save them. To see your own family suffer and die; there is nothing else worse than that. This might not be a happy moment but it certainly was impactful.

4. Ezio’s Revenge

After watching half of his family get executed, Ezio sets out to seek revenge. In this particular scene, Ezio executes Uberto Alberti, the guy responsible for his father’s and brothers’ death. After killing him, Ezio announces to the world that the Auditores are not yet dead, that he is still alive. Once again, not a happy moment but yet an impactful one.

5. Funny Da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci was not only a brilliant inventor and artist, he was also Ezio’s best friend. And apparently, he was also a very funny man. There are few people who have trolled Ezio and lived to tell the tale and Da Vinci was one of them. When Ezio asks Da Vinci to repair the hidden blade, he says that Ezio has to cut off his finger in order for the blade to work. Ezio agrees to get his finger cut off. Da Vinci then takes a butcher’s knife and swings it but misses Ezio’s finger saying that he was just joking. Ha ha, very funny Leonardo, very funny.

6. Welcome to the brotherhood

This was the moment when Ezio found out that he was part of something bigger, that was he was a part of the brotherhood of Assassins. This was the moment when he truly became an Assassin and joined the brotherhood. This was the moment that changed his life and gave him two sequels.

7. Good Guy Ezio

At the end of Assassin’s Creed 2, almost everyone was a 110% sure that Ezio would rid the world of Rodrigo Borgia, the templar master mind and the main antagonist. But Ezio chooses to spare Rodrigo’s life as he feels that nothing can be gained from killing him. Gotta say, didn’t see that one coming.

8. The Morning After

To say that Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood starts off with a bang is an under-statement. After spending a rather pleasurable night with Caterina Sforza, the queen of Forli, Ezio wakes up to find cannons crashing through his window. Well, that escalated quickly, didn’t it?

9. Ezio’s Epic Fail

Talking to a beautiful girl is never easy. Don’t believe me? Ask Ezio!! Even a ladies’ man like Ezio found himself tongue tied when he approached a beautiful girl to talk to her. Little did he know that this beautiful girl called Cristina, who made him spellbound, would go on to become the love of his life.

10. Will you join my hood?

The introduction of the ability to recruit assassins to your brotherhood was a huge hit. People loved the concept of leading a brotherhood and having the ability to call them on will. Hence the many moments where you recruited citizens of Rome into your brotherhood collectively make this list as not only were these moments integral to the story, but many players were very fond of recruiting more and more assassins to the hood.

11. The Da Vinci appearance

A while into AC: Brotherhood and people were already missing Leonardo Da Vinci. Hence it was about time he showed up; under a cardboard box. Paying tribute to the Metal gear Solid series, Ezio finds Leonardo hiding under a cardboard box and gets a chance to rekindle his friendship.

12. Like brother, Like sister

In this sequence, Ezio finds out that guards have attacked the Blooming Rose brothel where his mother Maria and sister Claudia are staying. At this time I prepared myself for a fight sequence where we have to defend Ezio’s mother and sister and kill all the guards. I was, however, shocked to see a cut scene in which Claudia was holding a knife over the bodies of dead guards. Claudia not only proves that she can take care of her selves but also goes on to become a full blown assassin and joins the brotherhood.

13. A Love Lost

Beneath all that charming and brash shell of Ezio, lies a broken heart. After what happened with his family, one would think that Ezio had had enough tragedy for a life time. Unfortunately, fate didn’t seem to agree with that. Ezio’s love of his life, Cristina is attacked by some thugs and as Ezio desperately tries to save her, Cristina passes away in his arms, saying that she would have loved a chance with him. Damn, the feels. This moment is one of the most, if not the most, tragic scene in the franchise.

14. Gravity is a bitch

After playing a significant part of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, I had had enough of Cesare Borgia. The guy was a fuckin’ pain in the neck (pardon my language). And I am sure most of you would agree with me. So when the final moment came, I wanted something different; I didn’t want Cesare’s death to be just another assassination. And I wasn’t disappointed as Ezio threw Cesare off the Fort’s wall ‘leaving him in the hands of fate.’ And for the first time ever, I was thankful for gravity.

15. Ezio’s Musical

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was a good game but it couldn’t live up to the expectations set by its predecessors. It however had its fair share of ‘Ezio moments’. For example, remember the sequence where Ezio had to dress up as a musician to enter a party? Who knew that Ezio could sing?

16. Douche bag Duccio

I guess everyone remembers Duccio. The scumbag who cheated on Ezio’s sister in AC 2. He is probably the only historical character, apart from Ezio, to have starred in the all the three instalments. While Duccio spent most of his screen time getting beaten the crap out of, he at least got a trilogy to his name.

17. A Good Friend Gone

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations had very few memorable side characters and Yusuf Tazim was one of them. During the end, Ezio reaches Sofia house to find that her house has been attacked and Yusuf has been killed. It was a rather sad moment and one of the few deaths in gaming that I am gonna remember for a long time to come.

18. Requiescat in pace brother

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations ends with Ezio meeting the dead Altair. The beauty and tragedy of this scene is too hard to explain in words.
